There are many ways a business can do their marketing on social media. Although it can be easy to some business owners, for others it can be difficult. Below are some do’s and don’ts when it comes to social media marketing.
Do Complete/ Update Your Social Media Profiles
Your social media presence is customer’s first impression of your business. If your profile is not completed or it is not updated it will make it seem not professional. Make sure everything in your social media profiles are fully complete. Also, make sure to update your information if changes need to be made.
Do Separate Your Business and Personal Accounts
It is important to keep business and personal accounts separate because you should not mix your private life with business. Customers will be able to see everything, therefore make sure it does not include your private life.
Do Think Before You Post
You have to make sure you think about that thought or idea you want to post before you actually do so. It needs to be thought out before posting because what you post will forever represent your business.
Do Post On A Regular Basis
Create posts regularly so customers know you keep them up to date and are interactive with them. People will not follow your social media if you do not post since there would be no reason to follow if they will see nothing.
Do Interact With Your Audience
Interacting with your customers is essential. Customers love a business who care about their customers and actually reply to them or ask for their input. Answer and ask questions!
Don’t Be Needy
Do not beg your followers to like or retweet your posts. If you do this, you will most likely lose followers. Content is key! If you want followers to like or retweet then create good content.
Don’t Share The Same Message Consistently
Would you like it if someone you follow posts the same thing every day? No. So do not do that with your followers! Be creative and create new content. If you do not do this, followers will be lost.
Don’t Only Post Text
Text only on social media is simply just boring. Be creative and add photos, GIFs, or videos! Mix them up and you will definitely get more customer engagement.
Don’t Ignore Negative Comments
Do not ignore comment on your social media accounts that are negative. This creates a bad image for your company. If you respond in a polite way by giving them a phone number they can call or by giving them an email they can write to then you create a trust with your customers. In other words, your customers will know they can count on your business to resolve problems and will know your business cares about the opinion of their customers.
Don’t Get Too Comfortable
If you create content that creates a lot of customer engagement then that is great! But is also important to keep in mind that while that content is getting a lot of engagement, you can not post it forever. Make sure you are contently creating new content so that your customers are happy. Have fun and be creative!
