Tips for Getting Epic Engagement on Social Media

Danielle Speciale • November 11, 2021

Have you ever posted a picture on Instagram and noticed that it isn’t generating as much interaction as you would like? There are endless ways that you can get more interaction on social media. In fact, one of your biggest goals should be to increase your social media engagement because it will ultimately lead to more business for you. Let’s dive into a few ways you can step-up your social media game.

Use Humor!

Many brands today are using humor to connect with their audience, specifically to connect with Gen Z. Just look at the TikTok pages for Duolingo (American language-learning website/app) and Ryan Air (European Airline). Both of those TikTok accounts are filled with humorous posts, while keeping up with all the latest trends. It seems to be working, because they each have over 1 million followers on that platform! The team that runs each of those accounts know that people enjoy the unconventional, and that people use social media to be entertained, not to be sold to.

Engage with Your Followers!

If you want people to engage more with your posts, you have to make sure you engage right back with them! This can mean doing something as simple as replying to a comment they left on your Instagram post. Replying to them can spark a conversation, which can lead to more business for you. You can even schedule some time specifically for engaging with your followers. This way you can follow new people, like people’s comments, reply to them and answer their questions while making sure you don’t miss anybody.

Be Creative with Your Content!

One way you can be creative with your content is to create original images. Studies show that Facebook posts with an image get 120% more engagement than posts without an image. You can also post GIFs, videos, or even memes to make your page stand out against your competitors. To spice up your content even more, you can ask your followers a question, show the “behind the scenes” of your business, and share user-generated content.

So the next time you make a TikTok, post on Facebook or send out a Tweet, remember these tips and you’ll for sure see an increase in your social media engagement!

It’s a month filled with opportunities for fun, community, and celebration. As we transition into autumn, it’s the perfect time for businesses to engage with their audiences by tapping into both national days and local events. Here’s a look at some of September’s highlights and how your brand can make the most of them. 1. National Self-Care Awareness Month (September) With the hustle and bustle of life, especially as kids head back to school and the holiday season approaches, self-care is more important than ever. September is National Self-Care Awareness Month, a perfect opportunity for brands to promote wellness. Whether you’re in the beauty, wellness, or health industry, this is the time to share tips, products, and services that encourage your audience to take time for themselves. On Long Island, this could also tie into local spa days, wellness retreats, or even quiet walks through the beautiful parks like Caleb Smith State Park Preserve. You can create content around local self-care spots or partner with nearby wellness centers for promotions. 2. Long Island’s Fall Festivals September on Long Island is synonymous with vibrant fairs and festivals that celebrate the changing seasons. The Long Island Garlic Festival at Garden of Eve Organic Farm in Riverhead is a favorite, offering a unique mix of garlicky goodness, local vendors, and family fun. The Long Island Fair at Old Bethpage Village Restoration is another must-visit, showcasing the region’s agricultural heritage with traditional games, crafts, and delicious fair food. These events provide a fantastic opportunity for businesses to get involved. Whether it’s through sponsorships, setting up a booth, or simply creating content around these local traditions, connecting your brand to these beloved events can boost your visibility and community engagement. 3. National Grandparents Day (September 8) Grandparents are the pillars of many families, and this day is dedicated to honoring them. If your brand has a family-oriented focus, consider creating a campaign that celebrates grandparents. Whether it’s through heartwarming stories, discounts, or special events, there’s a lot you can do to show appreciation. Why not encourage your followers to take their grandparents to one of Long Island’s picturesque spots? A day out in places like the Bayard Cutting Arboretum or a stroll along the Port Jefferson Harbor would make for perfect content and a special experience for families.
